At the SIGCHI 2011 conference we will present the note "Rendering Physical Effects in Tabletop Controls" that was developed at the Media Computing Group at RWTH Aachen University, by Malte Weiss and Prof. Jan Borchers (Media Computing Group) and Christian Remy (People and Computing Lab at University of Zurich).

We render physical effects in tabletop controls using electromagnetic actuation. Keeping the advantages of low-cost passive tangible, we allow designers to change physical properties on the fly, such as weight, friction, spring resistance, and detents.
