WINZ Hosts Its First Women in Tech Panel
On Friday, November 28th, the Women in Informatics Network Zurich (WINZ) and the University of Zurich ACM-W Student Chapter successfully hosted their first major event: the Women in Tech panel. The event featured five outstanding speakers from academia and industry; Prof. Dr. April Wang (ETH Zurich, Peach Lab), Prof. Dr. Giorgia Ramponi (UZH, ALPI Lab), Dr. Elena Arcari (Senior Data Scientist, BCGX), Dr. Laura Manduchi (Research Scientist, Apple), and Dr. Anastasia Makarova (Research Engineer, Google DeepMind). The panelists shared honest reflections on their career paths, addressing challenges, mentorship, and the role of supportive communities in navigating the tech landscape. Student participants raised thoughtful questions, sparking meaningful conversation on representation, leadership, and inclusion in a traditionally male-dominated field.
