Theodoros Rekatsinas becomes Professor of AI Systems
Prof. Dr. Theodoros Rekatsinas joins the Department of Informatics as Professor of AI Systems. Welcome, Theo!
Theodoros Rekatsinas was Vice President of Machine Learning at Axelera AI, where he worked on AI systems and hardware-aware machine learning for efficient generative AI. Previously, he held leadership roles at Apple and co-founded Inductive, an AI startup acquired by Apple. He has also held faculty positions in computer science at ETH Zurich and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Theo’s research lies at the intersection of AI and large-scale systems. His work focuses on the systems and algorithms that make modern AI more efficient, scalable, and capable, with particular interests in machine learning systems, generative AI, hardware-software co-design, and next-generation AI infrastructure.
At the Department of Informatics, Theo will establish the AI Systems Group, exploring the systems foundations of next-generation AI and large-scale computing.
