AI in Focus: From trust to the future of work

Abraham Bernstein researches with both a technical and a social science approach to understand the interaction between humans and computers.

In two recent publications, Abraham Bernstein offers insights into the impact of AI on society.

In the Netzwoche interview, he explains why trusting AI is harder than it seems. From music apps to navigation tools, we follow algorithmic suggestions almost unconsciously. But when AI recommends a medical issue, we may start asking: What makes an AI suggestion trustworthy?

In the Sunday press article, he is one of several experts exploring opportunities and risks of AI for jobs. According to him, there are AI enthusiasts who believe that AI will simply change the world of work, and those who expect mass unemployment. Abraham Bernstein believes the reality lies in between – but one thing is clear: flexibility will be crucial.
