Health Monitoring Practices and Sensing Technologies in Prenatal Care: A Qualitative Study with Midwives

In this ongoing project, we explore information needs, health monitoring procedures, and perception and use of sensing technologies during pregnancy from the midwives' point of view.

Motivation: The integration of sensing technologies into prenatal care has the potential for early detection of risks during pregnancy. By understanding the needs and concerns of all stakeholders, including midwives and their opinions about integrating sensing technologies in their practices, we aim to uncover potential barriers to adoption and identify opportunities to improve the user experience of these technologies.

Problem: Recent advancements in wearable sensor technologies have shown potential for improving health monitoring during pregnancy. However, accepting and integrating these technologies into routine prenatal care requires further investigation from the perspectives of both expectant parents and healthcare providers.

Goal: Gain qualitative insights about health monitoring practices, information needs, as well as midwives' experiences with sensing technologies in current prenatal care in Switzerland.

Approach: This project involves conducting interviews with midwives.

Eligibility: Open to students who have previously taken HCI or have experience in conducting interviews.
