Research Interests

My research interests lie at the intersection of Data Science, Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), Law and Software Engineering. Specifically, I specialized in theory of explanations and its applications in artificial intelligence for improving learning and the acquisition of information through explanations. My current projects involve:

  1. Evaluating software documentation for clarity and (EU) regulatory compliance.
  2. Developing question-answering tools and chatbots to explain educational content and software documentation.
  3. Studying how XAI is used by software engineers.

Short Biography

I got my PhD in Data Science and Computation in June 2023, top marks, from the University of Bologna in association with the Polytechnic of Milan. My PhD research centered on the development of Explanatory Artificial Intelligence (YAI) to generate user-centred explanations from large data sources, enhancing the comprehension of software and legal texts for both humans and Reinforcement Learning agents.
