Daniel Gehrig appointed Assistant Professor at NUS

Congratulations to our former PhD student Daniel Gehrig on his next career step: In March 2027, he will join the National University of Singapore (NUS) as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has also been awarded the prestigious Presidential Young Professorship, which will support him in establishing his research group. 🎉

Daniel Gehrig completed his PhD at the Department of Informatics in 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Davide Scaramuzza in the Robotics and Perception Group. His dissertation, “Efficient, Data-Driven Perception with Event Cameras,” explored how event cameras can enable faster and more efficient perception for applications in robotics and autonomous systems. In 2024, he received the UZH Annual Award for his PhD thesis.

Daniel is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the GRASP Lab at the University of Pennsylvania, where he works at the intersection of computer vision, robotics, and machine learning. AtNUS, he plans to establish a research group working across robotics, computer vision, machine learning, and event-driven computation, with a focus on intelligent systems that can efficiently perceive, predict, and act in dynamic, high-speed environments.

Congratulations, Daniel, on this exciting next step! 🎉
