Blockchain Forensic Toolkits and Applications

Blockchain Forensic Toolkits and Applications

Level: MAP
Responsible person: Tao Yan
Keywords:
Blockchain forensics, anomaly investigation

This project aims to develop a comprehensive toolkit for blockchain forensics and apply it to empirical investigations of blockchain attacks and risks. Blockchain forensic analysis seeks to uncover patterns of illicit activity, trace money flows, and evaluate the vulnerability of smart contracts.

Students will explore the toolkits in the blockchain forensics field from publications, websites, and applications. These forensic methods and tools focus on four major areas: data acquisition, money flow tracing, address profiling, and smart contract analysis. These components will be organized into a modular toolkit that supports reproducible and extensible blockchain investigations. The final stage of the project will focus on applying this toolkit to real-world case studies, such as bridge exploits, rug pulls, or money-laundering schemes.
