The University Council has appointed Dr. Daning Hu as an Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) of Information Systems at the Department of Informatics, starting 1 November 2011.
Prof. Hu received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in Tucson, USA in 2009 and a BS degree in Computer Science from Zhejiang University, China in 2004. After his PhD, he spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at City University in Hong Kong. His research focuses on Business Intelligence with applications particularly in finance and crime detection.
Der Universitätsrat hat Dr. Daning Hu auf den 1. November 2011 zum Assistenzprofessor (non-tenure track) für Information Systems / Wirtschaftsinformatik am Institut für Informatik ernannt.
Prof. Hu hat 2009 an der University of Arizona in Tucson, USA promoviert und 2004 einen Bachelor of Science in Informatik von der Zhejiang Universität in China erworben. Nach seiner Promotion hat er zwei Jahre als Postdoc an der City University in Hongkong verbracht. In seiner Forschung konzentriert er sich auf das Gebiet der Unternehmensdatenanalyse (Business Intelligence) mit Anwendungen insbesondere im Finanzbereich und in der Kriminalitätserkennung.
The University Council has appointed Dr. Thomas Fritz as an Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) of Software Quality at the Department of Informatics, starting 1 November 2011. He will be the principal investigator in a new Software Quality Center at IfI. Professors Gall and Glinz will also be members of this center.
Prof. Fritz received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, Canada in 2011 and a diploma degree in Informatics from LMU Munich, Germany in 2005. In his research, he has focused on how to model and analyze contextual knowledge in software development processes. His future research will be directed at finding relevant information about software and software processes in context, personalizing this information and evaluating the influence of such techniques on software quality and developer performance.
Der Universitätsrat hat Dr. Thomas Fritz auf den 1. November 2011 zum Assistenzprofessor (non-tenure track) für Software-Qualität am IfI ernannt. Er übernimmt die Position des Hauptforschers in einem neuen Zentrum für Software Qualität am IfI. Die Professoren Gall und Glinz werden weitere Mitglieder in diesem Zentrum sein.
Prof. Fritz hat 2011 an der University of British Columbia in Kanada promoviert und 2005 an der LMU in München ein Diplom in Informatik erworben. In seiner bisherigen Forschung hat er sich auf die Modellierung und Analyse von kontextualisiertem Wissen in Software-Entwicklungsprozessen konzentriert. Am Ifi will er sich mit Fragen des Findens relevanter, kontextualisierter Information über Software und Software Prozesse, der Personalisierung dieser Information und der Evaluation des Einflusses solcher Techniken auf Software-Qualität und die Leistung von Software-Entwicklern beschäftigen.
The University Council has appointed Dr. Davide Scaramuzza as an Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) of Human-Oriented Robotics at the Department of Informatics, starting 1 February 2012. He will join the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at IfI and will be an investigator in the NCCR Robotics. (NCCRs are national competence centers of research, funded by snsf.)
Prof. Scaramuzza received his Ph.D. from ETH Zurich in 2008 and a Laurea Degree in Electronics and Information Engineering from the University of Perugia, Italy in 2004. After his PhD, he held postdoctoral positions at ETHZ and University of Pennsylvania, USA. In his research, he has investigated problems of visual odometry and visual position control with applications to the control of flying robots.
Der Universitätsrat hat Dr. Davide Scaramuzza auf den 1. Februar 2012 zum Assistenzprofessor (non-tenure track) für Human-Oriented Robotics am Institut für Informatik ernannt. Er wird Mitglied des Labors für Künstliche Intelligenz am IfI sowie Mitglied im Forschungsteam des Nationalen Forschungsschwerpunkts (NCCR) Robotik.
Prof. Scaramuzza hat 2008 an der ETH Zürich promoviert und 2004 an der Universität Perugia (Italien) einen Laurea-Abschluss in Elektronik und Informationstechnik erworben. Nach seiner Promotion war er Postdoc an der ETH Zürch und an der University of Pennsylvania, USA. In seiner Forschung hat er sich mit Problemen der visuellen Odometrie und visuellen Positionsregelung beschäftigt und Anwendungen auf die Steuerung autonomer fliegender Roboter untersucht.
