Claudio Tessone becomes Professor for Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies

As of 1st August 2021 the Board of the University has appointed Claudio Tessone as Associate Professor ad personam for Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies.

Claudio Tessone

Claudio Tessone was Assistant Professor of Network Science at the Business Administration Department of the University of Zurich. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), Palma, and an Habilitation on «Complex socio-economic systems» from ETH Zurich in the area of Economics, Management and Technology. Since his PhD he studies the link between microscopic agent behaviour, the rules these agents follow and the global, emergent properties of systems. Claudio Tessone is an expert in the modelling of complex socio-economic, and socio-technical systems from an interdisciplinary perspective. 

Claudio is director of the Summer School «Deep Dive into Blockchain» and co-directs the Certificate of Advanced Studies on Blockchain at the University of Zurich. In 2017 he co-founded together with other Professors from Law, Economics, Business and Informatics the UZH Blockchain Center, becoming first its Academic Director and its Chairman since 2019. Nowadays, UZH Blockchain Center (UZH BCC) is the largest and most active academic initiative in the area of Blockchain in Switzerland, a World-wide blockchain hub. 

At the Department of Informatics Claudio's team will be composed by nine PhD students and three postdocs. They perform large-scale data analysis, minimalistic modelling aimed at uncovering mechanisms behind regularities observed.
