Dr. Corinna Hertweck

Corinna is a postdoctoral researcher in the group and a tech researcher at AlgorithmWatch CH. She is the project coordinator of the joint research project "RAISD - Researching AI, Society & Democracy in Switzerland" between the Social Computing Group and AlgorithmWatch CH. Her research focuses on the impact of AI on society and democracy, specifically in the context of Switzerland.

Corinna also co-founded the European Conference on Algorithmic Fairness (ECAF, formerly EWAF), which she co-organized in 2022 and 2023 and now oversees as a board member of the European Association for Algorithmic Fairness.

Her research interests sit broadly at the intersection of computer science and social sciences, with a focus on algorithmic auditing and algorithmic fairness.

She joined the Social Computing Group in 2020 as a PhD student on the SNSF project"Socially acceptable and fair AI". Her PhD thesis focused on statistical metrics for measuring discrimination and injustices in algorithms. Prior to joining SCG, Corinna studied computer science for her bachelor's and master's degrees and worked as a software engineer.

In 2025, she also co-founded UZH's Plant-Based Universities campaign to make UZH more sustainable.
