Since 2010, Lorenz Hilty has been Professor of Informatics and Sustainability at the Department of Informatics at the University of Zurich. For the last ten years, he has also served as the first sustainability delegate of the UZH. On June 18, 2024, he gave a well-attended farewell lecture in the aula and will leave his positions at the UZH on July 31, 2024.

After an appreciation of Lorenz's work by Vice President Gabriele Siegert, Lorenz gives a generally understandable overview of the development of the research field that emerged between digitalization and sustainability, also reporting on (sometimes amusing) personal experiences at the interface between science, politics and the media.
