Digital Platforms and AI for Public Value

Description

The sharing economy and online platforms are rapidly evolving, transforming the fabric of our daily lives through technology. Today, AI further amplifies the capabilities of these platforms, enabling smarter decision-making and personalized experiences. Beyond facilitating a wide array of products and services that can be accessed with a tap or click, these digital platforms function as intricate ecosystems. Comprising interconnected individuals, organizations, and technologies—including AI—they collaborate to generate public value. It's crucial to understand that these platforms cannot be studied in isolation; they are part of a larger system that impacts society in various ways. In this research stream, we aim to establish a holistic understanding of the complexities, challenges, and opportunities presented by digital platforms and AI. We also seek to identify potential solutions and implications for the future design and governance of these transformative ecosystems.
