Assistant Professorship (Tenure-Track) in Responsible AI
The Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics of the University of Zurich invites applications for an
Assistant Professorship Tenure-Track in Responsible AI
starting at the earliest in (spring) 2026. Candidates shall hold, at the time of the appointment, a Ph.D. degree in computer science or a related field and have an excellent record of academic achievements in the following research areas:
- Frameworks and Methods for Responsible AI: Development of robust methodologies for building, auditing, and validating AI systems in alignment with ethical, safety, and societal norms using computational formalisms, certification of models, mechanisms for domain-specific adaptation, identification of domains where AI use may be inappropriate.
- Technical Foundations of Trustworthy AI: Design and deployment of provably fair and unbiased models (e.g., optimizing for diversity or user learning), explainable and interpretable AI systems (aligned with regulatory requirements like GDPR and the EU AI Act), and research on adversarial robustness and defenses for deep learning systems.
It is expected that the research of the successful candidate will contribute both to the advancement of technical methods and to the understanding of how AI systems can be responsibly integrated into human workflows, with attention to ethical, social, and interdisciplinary implications.
