Thomas Mannhart has been awarded a HS2020 Semester Award for his BSc thesis, entitled «A General-purpose Range Join Algorithm for PostgreSQL».
The BSc thesis was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Michael Böhlen and Dr. Anton Dignös from the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. Thomas Mannhart's work focused on the design, development, and integration of a novel range join algorithm into PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL is an open source database management system with over 1.5M lines of code that is implemented and maintained by a community of developers around the globe. His solution aimed at increasing the performance of the system when joining datasets using ranges.
Thomas Mannhart is currently doing his Masters degree at the University of Zurich.
