TrailView – Best Paper Award at Web3D
We are pleased to announce that our paper "TrailView: An Interactive 3D Hike Planning Tool", authored by Julian A. Croci, Christian Skorski, Julius Rauscher, Renato Pajarola, and Alexandra Diehl, has received the best paper award at the Web3D 2025 Conference in Siena.

TrailView builds upon the tool developed by Christian Skorski during his Master's thesis. The authors have enhanced the rendering and guidance capabilities of TrailView, creating an even more realistic and comprehensive tool for planning hikes. TrailView incorporates weather forecast data, points of interest along routes, and detailed terrain condition analysis.
This work highlights how students can gain valuable exposure to cutting-edge research during their studies and exemplifies successful international collaboration between researchers from the University of Konstanz (Julius Rauscher) and the University of Southern Denmark (Prof. Alexandra Diehl, formerly a postdoctoral researcher at the IfI).
