Information for Prospective BS/MS Students

Thank you for your interest. This page contains information about opportunities for BS Thesis, MS Thesis, and MS Projects within the SPINS group. If you wish to submit an application, please read carefully.

  • As a rule of thumb, the projects we offer/advise require basic knowledge of cybersecurity foundations. To create conditions for successful projects/thesis, applicants are expected to (at a minimum) have completed Foundations of Cybersecurity (offered at UZH) or an equivalent cybersecurity course/experience.
  • In most cases, your project/thesis will be co-advised by one of the SPINS PhDs/PostDocs. To ensure alignment,  you are asked to check current research areas at SPINS before submitting your application.
  • Applications must be submitted 2 months before the start of the project/thesis execution period. This will allow sufficient time to develop a proposal document to be submitted along with your registration/enrollment form. Execution periods must coincide with academic semesters (Fall or Spring).
  • The number of projects and theses advised within our group each semester depends on staffing capacity. Please apply early and ensure your project fits the research group's theme.
  • To submit an application, please fill the following form (among other information, you will be asked to briefly describe your project/thesis idea in a couple of paragraphs): APPLICATION FORM
