Lena Jäger takes over dual Professorship
Lena Jäger, Head of Digital Linguistics at the Department of Computational Linguistics (CL), will continue to offer her lecture on Advanced Machine Learning in both the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics. Moreover, she will offer a more specialized seminar around the topic of AI and human cognition soon. Warmly welcome, Lena!

Many applications of computational linguistics fall under the boarder umbrella of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including natural language processing, chatbots, speech and voice recognition, machine translation, sign language processing, text classification, and information extraction from eye movements.
The dual professorship enables the integration of this computer science-related research area into the Department of Informatics (IfI) and promotes permeability between the faculties. This makes it easier for students to attend modules at the other Department.
Lena Jäger's research interests lie at the intersection of linguistics, computational cognitive science and machine learning. She investigates cognitive mechanisms that underlie human language processing through different approaches such as experimental psycholinguistics, computational cognitive modeling as well as NLP and machine learning methods (e.g. deep learning).
At the Department of Informatics, Lena will teach selected topics on machine learning in general, as well as topics at the intersection of AI and human cognition.
