Currently, I am a senior researcher in the Department of Informatics at the University of Zurich. Previously, I held positions as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, and as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Birkbeck, University of London, UK. Before that I worked as a wissenschaftlicher Assistent (corresponds approximately to Assistant Professor) at the University of Mannheim, Germany, where I also acquired my Ph.D. I received a Masters degree in Computer Science (Dipl. Inform.) from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. For the winter term 2004/2005 I held a temporary professorship in databases at the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
