Computation and Economics Research Group

Welcome to the website of the Computation and Economics Research Group led by Prof. Dr. Sven Seuken. The group was founded in September 2011 and is part of the Department of Informatics at the University of Zurich. Our research lies at the intersection of computer science and game theory with a focus on market design.

Graphic detailing different areas of market design

We are interested in questions such as how to design market platforms (like eBay, Uber, or AirBnB) that work well, or how to repair market platforms that are broken. Our specialty is to combine techniques from microeconomics/game theory with techniques from computer science in the design and analysis of markets. For more details, please see our publications.

Research Areas

  • Electronic Market Design
  • Computational Mechanism Design
  • Algorithmic Game Theory
  • Combinatorial Auctions
  • Matching Markets
