Michaela’s research interest revolves around software comprehension, developer productivity, and code reviews. She runs her own consultancy and training company focusing on helping engineering teams make code reviews effective and fast.

Previously, she worked at Microsoft in the Visual Studio team on innovative solutions to improve software development tools and processes. Her main responsibility was to lead the Office, Windows, and Exchange teams to better code reviews, faster builds and more effective testing strategies. For that, she analyzed and visualized data and build prediction models, or engaged with developers through user studies, ensuring optimization was done in a data-driven way.
She has a Ph.D. in Software Engineering, and an MSc and a BSc degree in Computer Science.
