Open Position: (Senior) Post-Doc Position

In the software evolution and architecture lab at the University of Zurich (Chair: Prof. Harald Gall), we have a senior post-doc position available for initially two years, starting any time in 2017. We are looking for applicants in Software Engineering, with a special focus on  

  • empirical software engineering
  • software evolution analysis
  • software development for the cloud

Our group consists of one professor (chair), two assistant professors, 2 post-docs, and 8-10 PhD students. We have a track record of substantial impact at international venues and are well funded, both on the national and European level. We cooperate with researchers around the world, including companies such as Microsoft, Google, IBM, ABB, or SAP.

The prospective post-doc will work with the group’s current students and be able to build up an independent research profile within the broad spectrum outlined above. Additionally, the post-doc will contribute to the group’s teaching obligations, and participate in the coordination of the research group. Acquiring external grant funding is desired.

The Department of Informatics is the competence center for Informatics at the University of Zurich. 10 tenured professors, four assistant professors, and approximately 100 PhD students and postdoctoral researchers instruct and conduct research at the department.

Zurich is a leading global city and among the world's largest financial centers. The city is home to a large number of financial institutions and IT companies. Most of Switzerland's research and development centers are concentrated in Zurich and the low tax rates attract overseas companies to set up their headquarters there. 

English is the working and teaching language all over computer science. Germans generally have reasonable command of English; and in day-to-day life, you can easily get along with English as your only language. 

Mandatory conditions of employment are:

  • PhD in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Strong research profile in terms of publications and outreach
  • Fluency in English
