Digital Work Design

We study the daily routines of knowledge workers which have evolved over time. These individual practices oppose often top-down specified production processes and allow a deeper understanding of the individual needs. A practice understanding stresses the routinisation of daily work and contributes to better understanding of technologies-in-practice, i.e. the ways in which people appropriate technology in a particular context. All this helps to identify requirements for the development of innovative applications and lays also the foundation for their successful implementation.
