Timo Mennle wins Mercator Award 2017

Timo Mennle

Timo Mennle has been awarded a Mercator Award 2017 for Junior Researchers in the area of Law and Economics. In his dissertation (PDF, 3 MB), Timo Mennle has explored how incentives for truthtelling interact with other desiderata, such as economic efficiency and fairness, in the design of market mechanisms for markets without money. Applications of his work include the assignment of children to public schools, the admission of students to universities, and the allocation of subsidized housing.

The award is conferred by Graduate Campus (GRC) and Mercator Foundation Switzerland in recognition of outstanding scientific achievements of societal relevance that apply inter- or transdisciplinary approaches or methods. Three awards are conferred each year in the areas of Arts and Social Sciences, Law and Economics, and Medicine and Sciences. Each award is endowed with a prize money of CHF 5’000.

The public awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, July 13, 2017. We congratulate Timo Mennle on this great accomplishment!
