Impressions from Electronic Market Design Symposium

On April 30, 2016, Prof. Tuomas Sandholm received an honorary doctorate from the University of Zurich for his research at the intersection of computer science and game theory, in particular for his work on electronic market design. To honor Tuomas Sandholm, the faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics organized a Symposium on Electronic Market Design, which took place on Friday, April 29, 2016. Here are some impressions from the symposium.

Abraham Bernstein (Chair of the Department of Informatics) welcomed the audience.

Prof. Tuomas Sandholm spoke about combinatorial auctions, automated mechanism design and kidney exchange.

Prof. Martin Bichler spoke spectrum auction design and general challenges in market design.

Prof. Sven Seuken spoke about combinatorial auctions, in particular about faster algorithms, better incentives, and smarter bidding languages.

Prof. Axel Oceknfels spoke about how to engineer trust on eBay.
