Prof. Dr.
Michael Hess
Michael
Hess is professor of Computational Linguistics and head of the
Institute of Computational Linguistics.
Research
Interests
My interest are mainly
computational
semantics (with Answer Extraction as its main application)
logic
programming in its applications to the problems of Computational
Linguistics, and
web-based
methods of teaching (primarily but not exclusively) Computational
Linguistics.
A
side-line is the field of multi-channel publishing (one source
file is used to generate output in various forms and modalities,
as exemplified by my class note production system where
transparencies, class notes in interactive PDF on the Web, and the
printed material for myself are all generated from one common
file).
I believe in Unix, Emacs, and Troff (in this order)
and detest Windows, Word, and LaTeX (in this order).
