I was a member and am now happy to be a guest researcher of the AI Lab
headed by Prof. Rolf Pfeifer, the author of the book Unterstanding Intelligence

The lab's address is:
University of Zürich
Department of Information Technology, AI Lab
Winterthurerstr. 190

I am mainly working at UBS Switzerland's largest bank. There, you can reach me

phone +41-1-236 82 91 fax +41-1-635 68 09

I am currently working as an associated director at UBS. For all software project, our small group chooses the right UNIX server, configures the appropriate I/O system, and provides propper disk layouts for large data base systems.

Due to Prof. Pfeifer's generosity, I am still a guest researcher at the AI Lab, University of Zurich. is head of the AI Lab and our main research goals are autonomous agents and situated design. Recently, our research activities also include soft agents. To see who is involved in which project, please visit our staff website.

My main research focuses on soft computing methods in the context of autonomous agents. Among other things, soft computing methods compris neural networks, evolutionary algorithms, and fuzzy logic/control. These methods are widely believed to solve certain problems present in classical AI. By using soft computing methods, I am mostly interested in learning and self-organization.

In addition to my research and general interests in movies and music, I spend my spare time playing Badminton, windsurfing, playing volleyball, white water kayaking, and repairing my old VW bus.
