Current Research

My current research interests lie in the exploration of navigation mechanisms in natural and artificial agents. I am working on navigation in desert ants and robots, especially on the interaction of different mechanisms like path integration and landmark navigation.

You can find a short description on my Project page.

The AntTracker is a first version of a software enabling the automatic analysis of videotaped runs in the field (link is german only).

Earlier Work

Correlations between Lewy bodies in the Nc. dors. n. Vagi and vegetative symptoms in patients died from Parkinsons desease. (Institute of Pathology Basel)

Neuronal regeneration in zebrafish. (Biozentrum Basel)

Miscellaneous

I am a founding member and the current secretary of the Swiss MD-PhD Association, SMPA.

In 2002 I started AIWiki, a collaborative project dedicated to all aspects of AI. It is designed as a sister site to Bayle Shanks' NeuroWiki.
This was the result of a long lasting fascination for the wiki idea. Some of the wikis I've contributed to over the years are:

When time allows, I am performing at the Theater Mausefalle (Mousetrap Theatre) in Solothurn.
Here are the Plays since 1994 in which I have been involved and some Photos.
